STORM SIM together with its partners has delivered “SSH” Steering Simulator for helmsmen to the Spanish Training Center INFOMATIC.

SSH simulator is designed in conformity with The Manila Amendments to STCW Convention (coming into effect on January, 1, 2012) and Section А-II/4 of STCW Code. It is intended for training, demonstrating of improvement of competence of able seafarers deck and ratings forming part of a navigational watch on sea-going and river vessels.

SSH Simulator is developed to provide the “Mandatory minimum requirements for certification of ratings forming part of a navigational watch” (Section A-II/4 of the STCW Code) and is dedicated to:

  • training, demonstrating and evaluation of competence of able seafarers deck in accordance with The Manila Amendments to STCW Convention (coming into effect on January, 1, 2012).
  • training of ratings forming part of a navigational watch of sea-going to gain their competence, knowledge, understanding and professionalism needed for performing the function “Navigation at the support level” (columns 1 and 2 of the Table А-II/4 of STCW Code);
  • demonstration of competence obtained in the training or approved in-service experience (column 3 of the Table A-II/ 4 of the STCW Code);
  • evaluation of competence in accordance with the criteria listed in the column 4 of the Table A-II/4 of the STCW Code.
