SaS simulator and VR equipment were jointly first used during training of shipping and petroleum company’s employees
STORM is going on the work of creation of SaS Simulator (Safety and Security). Virtual Reality (VR) technology is being realized in the SaS Simulator to provide the ultimate realism.
The simulator is intended for training team and individual actions of employed or engaged persons at water transport facilities (such as a ship, port) in emergency situations (fire, foundering, security breaches, piracy and armed robbery, etc).
Beta-version of SaS Simulator installed in STORM maritime training center was used within providing training course «Control of the amount of cargo transported by an oil tanker». The course focuses on the training of oil tanker’s officers, shore personnel responsible for ship commercial operation and economical security, security officers of petroleum companies.
Trainees had possibilities to observe ship compartments, systems and equipment with help of 3D model of oil tanker realized in SaS Simulator and VR equipment (VR glasses and hand controllers).
The release of the first version of the “SaS” simulator, for training officers in advanced firefighting in accordance with Section A-VI/3 of STCW Code requirements is planned for the first half of 2019.
